Best selling paintings of 2014

Paintings of cows and sheep inspired by the denizens of Devon continue to dominate the best selling examples of my art work. Images with dramatic lighting are at the very top with warmer, more traditional scenes in a close second. The detail shown below is from a painting that sits in joint fifth for 2014 and you can see the full article and chart here.

Paintings of an English Summer

Nights are long, the cold is here, I wonder when this rain will clear? In the middle of winter it's easy to forget just how warm and wonderful summer can be, but you can find a few reminders here :-)

Floral Throw Pillows - British Wild Flowers Paintings

Experimenting with painting methods that do not traditionally match the subject matter can be fun. These flower paintings, all based on the wild blooms that can be found in British hedgerows use mixed media techniques, including acrylic dry brush and washes, felt tip and biro. The patterns created make striking decorative pieces and you can now coordinate your canvas print with some throw pillows. See the British Wildflower collection here.

Paintings of Black Cows

Blue is the new black, well not that new, for many a year now I have often made the darkest colour in my palette ultramarine blue or a purple made by adding some cadmium red. I love the way these colours contrast with flesh tones when painting people, see this nude for example. Equally when painting black cows, for me, blue is the way to go! See a collection of my paintings of black cows, angus and dexter breeds here.
