The Sunday Art Show - Flat at Fistral - En Plein air inktense pencils beach painting

This week we're down in Cornwall at Fistral Beach doing some en plein air drawing and sketching. The weather was overcast and there were very few waves so instead I focused on drawing an RNLI lifeguard truck and some people and surfers on the beach using a Sharpie pen. Have outlined the scene, I then used inktense pencils to add washes of colour. Also, explored the cliff tops checking out the view and did some monochrome drawings using a brown sharpie marker pen.
Materials used: sharpie pens, A4 mixed media paper and inktense pencils
You can see the finished colour drawing here: https://mike-jory.pixels.com/featured/lifeguards-and-surfer-at-fistral-beach-coloured-pencils-mike-jory.html

The Sunday Art Show - Sheep Painting Tutorial - Mixed media markers and paint

This sheep painting tutorial starts with a narrow nib acrylic paint marker and then continues to show how to use the giant nib acrylic paint marker pens to create a series of different effects and marks. I did a sheep painting using paint markers a few weeks ago but this one is different as after the marker pen work, I switch to applying normal acrylic paint with a brush to enhance the sheep picture. Hope to see you next Sunday for the next episode of the Sunday Art Show

The Sunday Art Show - Sail Boats on the River Exe at Exmouth Painting Tutorial

This week, I am inspired by giant jelly fish at Exmouth Marina to paint a picture of 3 sail boats with blue sails gliding across the silvery water of the River Exe in Devon. You can see, and zoom in on, the finished painting here: https://mike-jory.pixels.com/featured/sailing-boats-with-blue-sails-on-the-river-exe-at-exmouth-mike-jory.html This is a mixed media painting called "Weekend on the water".
