The Sunday Art Show - Sail Boats on the River Exe at Exmouth Painting Tutorial

This week, I am inspired by giant jelly fish at Exmouth Marina to paint a picture of 3 sail boats with blue sails gliding across the silvery water of the River Exe in Devon. You can see, and zoom in on, the finished painting here: https://mike-jory.pixels.com/featured/sailing-boats-with-blue-sails-on-the-river-exe-at-exmouth-mike-jory.html This is a mixed media painting called "Weekend on the water". I start with a few thumbnail sketches using biro then move onto mixed media paper and put down some loose lines with a fluorescent marker pen and some acrylic paint markers. Most of the painting is then blocked in with washes of watercolour before the image is brought to conclusion using interactive acrylics.
