The Sunday Art Show - En Plein Air River Exe at Topsham watercolour painting

In this video, I show you some watercolour techniques that allow me to paint a river scene including a distant landscape and boats on the water in about 30 minutes. The finished painting 'Summer evening on the River Exe' can be seen in high resolution here https://mike-jory.pixels.com/featured/sailing-on-the-river-exe-at-topsham-watercolour-painting-en-plein-air-mike-jory.html
Working en plein air, I use a combination of watercolor washes applied with a brush and some line work using a watercolour marker pen to quickly create a range of effects and textures.
Materials used:
Winsor and Newton field easel
Daler Rowney mixed media board (A3)
Winsor and Newton watercolour (cotman set)
Winsor and Newton watercolour marker pens
Synthetic brushes (1/4 inch flat and size 16 round)
