The Sunday Art Show - En Plein Air Horse and Landscape Painting

In this week's video, I show you how to paint a horse and landscape painting while working en plein air. This is 'Grazing the day away' - you can see the full painting here https://mike-jory.pixels.com/featured/horse-grazing-in-devon-landscape-en-plein-air-painting-mike-jory.html I begin with a simple, gestural sketch using a sharpie pen and A4 mixed media paper. Then, I add colour to the scene of a horse grazing against a Devon landscape of rolling hills, fields, hedges and trees using interactive acrylics. Next, I go through a few different horse sketches and finally complete the painting with watercolour marker pens.
Materials: A4 Daler-Rowney mixed media pad, Sharpie marker pen (black), Atelier interactive acrylics (permanent alizarin, phthalo blue, carbon black, titanium white, cadmium yellow deep, cadmium yellow light), flat and round synthetic brushes, Winsor and Newton watercolour marker pens (burnt umber and cobalt blue)
